Peppermint oil contains a high concentration of natural pesticides, primarily pulegone (found primarily in Mentha arvensis var. piperascens (cornmint, field mint, or Japanese mint) and, to a lesser extent (6,530 ppm) in Mentha piperita subsp. notho). It is known to repel some pest insects, including mosquitos, and has organic gardening applications. It’s also widely used to keep rodents away.
