Long pepper (Piper longum), also known as Indian long pepper or thippali, is a flowering vine in the Piperaceae family that is grown for its fruit, which is typically dried and used as a spice and seasoning. Long pepper tastes similar to, but hotter than, its close relative Piper nigrum, which yields black, green, and white pepper.
