Cloves are the aromatic flower buds of the Myrtaceae tree Syzygium aromaticum. They are indigenous to Indonesia’s Maluku Islands (or Moluccas) and are commonly used as a spice, flavouring, or fragrance in consumer goods such as toothpaste, soaps, and cosmetics.
