Black cumin, Elwendia persica, is thought to resemble caraway, however they are two very different plants. Shape, colour, and size variations between the seeds are striking. Black Cumin is predominantly black with a slight curve shape, in contrast to the brown appearance of Caraway seeds. To give the rice a faint flavour, this seed can be added to the water for the rice.
